Job duties for the event planner include:
Solicit new catering customers through prospecting and cold calls.
Accurately develop and write catering contracts
Work with the Chef on menu.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items through frequent tasting.
Maintain and foster current client base with various sales techniques.
Develop and Maintain a list of preferred vendors for flowers, music, audio visual equipment, etc.
Effectively attempt to attain sales goals.
Oversee any catered event that requires a personal visit.
Maintain a positive pleasant, attitude every shift.
Perform calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment.
Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules.
Requirements for the Event Planner role:
3+ years of catering sales experience; restaurant/hospitality industry.
Experience with developing relationships while cultivating new clientele
A guest-focused, detailed approach to sales and service
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Skilled in polished & professional communication (in-person, phone & correspondence)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with parties/special events
Proven knowledge of current industry trends & news
Experience with outside sales in downtown Minneapolis
