Provide strategic direction and oversight for all sports medicine services for 12 highly competitive athletic programs, cheer, and drill team. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to injury prevention, treatment, and return-to-play protocols. Maintain a safe and effective healthcare environment for all student-athletes. Coordinate comprehensive medical coverage for all practices, competitions, and postseason events. Serve as the primary liaison between athletics, team physicians, and healthcare providers.
Injury Prevention, Care & Rehabilitation
Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries and conditions. Design and implement injury prevention programs, including conditioning and recovery strategies. Make return-to-play decisions in collaboration with physicians, coaching staff, and athletes. Provide emergency care and first aid at practices and competitions. Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all student-athletes.
Staff Supervision & Development
Supervise all sports medicine staff and student workers. Assign sport coverage responsibilities and manage staff schedules. Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Ensure appropriate staffing levels for all TJC and outside athletic events and activities. Maintain annual professional certificates and licenses.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with NJCAA, institutional, and applicable state and federal healthcare regulations. Maintain proper documentation, insurance coordination, and injury reporting protocols. Oversee pre-participation physicals and medical clearance processes. Develop and implement emergency action plans for all athletic facilities and mental health-related situations. Monitor and enforce safety standards and risk management practices.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with coaches to support student-athlete health and performance. Coordinate with strength and conditioning staff, academic services, and campus health services. Communicate effectively with student-athletes and families regarding injuries and care plans. Assist in educating student-athletes on health, wellness, nutrition, and injury prevention.
Budget & Equipment Management
Develop and manage the sports medicine budget. Oversee purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies. Ensure athletic training facilities are properly equipped, organized, and maintained.
Administrative & Departmental Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records and reports related to injuries, treatments, and program operations. Assist with departmental planning and policy development. 24-hour on-call for all student-athlete emergencies. Support athletic events and departmental initiatives as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications Required Education Bachelor's degree in health and kinesiology Required Experience Three years of experience in athletic training or a related field Preferred Education Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in health and kinesiology; equivalent professional experience will be considered. Additional Job-Specific Requirements Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of skills, techniques, and strategies of athletic training Successful athletic training experience at the secondary and/or college level Expectations
