Team Description You will be a member of the Travel Intelligence team, a high‑impact group dedicated to building the "intelligent core" of Capital One Travel. Our mission is to transform vast amounts of travel data into personalized, seamless experiences for our customers. Specifically, this role focuses on the Hotels domain, where you will own the end‑to‑end technical strategy for Search & Sort and Pricing Optimization and move from offline, historical data models to sophisticated, real‑time Machine Learning solutions.
In this role you will partner closely with Product and Engineering to define key metrics such as MOB and Reference Price coverage and architect systems that determine what customers see and pay. This is an opportunity to apply the 80:20 rule—starting with high‑impact wins while building the business case and technical roadmap for the future of ML at Capital One Travel.
Role Description
Partner with a cross‑functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver products customers love.
Use a broad stack of technologies—including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, and Spark—to extract insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data.
Build machine learning models through all phases of development: design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
Translate the technical complexity of your work into tangible business goals and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following degrees with an expectation of obtaining it on or before the start date:
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus seven years of data analytics experience.
Master’s Degree in a quantitative field or MBA with a quantitative concentration plus five years of data analytics experience.
PhD in a quantitative field plus two years of data analytics experience.
At least two years of experience leveraging open‑source programming languages for large‑scale data analysis.
At least two years of experience working with machine learning.
At least two years of experience using relational databases.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus four years of experience in data analytics.
At least one year of experience with AWS.
At least five years of experience in Python, Scala, or R for large‑scale data analysis.
At least five years of experience with machine learning.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges vary by location: McLean, VA – $229,900 to $262,400; New York, NY – $250,800 to $286,200.
Performance‑based incentives, including cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives, may be available.
