The Environmental, Health, And Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for auditing and maintaining facility EHS systems. This position ensures the facility is operating according to EHS procedures and notifies management when deviations from these standards are noted. Location: 210 Industrial Parkway, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am-4:00pm, overtime as needed Starting Pay Rate: $60,000/year-75,000/year, depending upon experience Working in-branch, together, is the default workplace environment for Metrie to be an exceptional place to work. Drives all company safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure 100% compliance Acts as in-plant voice for EHS related issues; concentrating on at risk behaviors and conditions throughout the facility Verifies compliance with EHS standards, through auditing, observations, inspections, and program reviews Maintains and administers all EHS programs, ensuring they are current, effective, and aligned with company and regulatory requirements Tracks EHS programs, including training, roll-out compliance, and safety inspections; notifies management of any deficiencies Leads the Safety Committee and supports site leadership in driving safety engagement and accountability Supports first aid response and emergency readiness efforts Leads accident investigations and drives corrective actions to prevent recurrence Maintains OSHA logs, incident records, permits, and other required EHS documentation in accordance with company standards Conducts new hire orientation safety orientation and ensures completion of all related onboarding and training documentation Leads weekly safety walks with leadership to identify hazards and drive continuous improvement Facilitates and participates in weekly safety presentation with business segment Develops and manages monthly safety calendars, coordinating training, audits, and toolbox talks, and key safety initiatives to drive compliance, engagement, and reporting to leadership Manages SDS documentation and conducts chemical approval audits prior to introducing new materials Maintains EHS documentation filing systems according to the company requirements Updates Safety Visual Workplace boards and provides facility-wide safety communications Maintains PPE vending systems and emergency preparedness kits in partnership with vendors Implements Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen safety process improvement opportunities throughout the plant
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required Experience implementing EHS programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment Knowledgeable of local, state and federal EHS guidelines and requirements Demonstrates initiative, takes a proactive approach, and encourages others to stay motivated Strong communication skills both written and verbal Demonstrates accountability, maintains high integrity, and exhibits a strong work ethic Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and apply strong problem-solving Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills Strong time management and organizational skills Passion for employee engagement, with a willingness to spend adequate time on the floor First Aid and CPR training/certified preferred or ability to get certified in 90 days CI/Lean certification a plus Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen Demonstrates commitment to your team members and accountability for safety and quality.
