NFI Mobile Diesel Technician Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical tractor and trailer issues using JPRO, OEM diagnostic software, multimeters, and Windows.
Perform preventive maintenance on company tractors and trailers.
Conduct DOT inspections in accordance with FMCSA guidelines.
Provide on‑site evaluation and training to support career development.
Use advanced diagnostic tools to find root causes and develop repair solutions.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license; preferred Class B.
Technical or advanced degree in diesel technology or 2+ years of maintenance experience.
Experience with diagnostic tools such as JPRO, OEM software, multimeters, and Windows.
Strong problem‑solving, teamwork, and customer‑service skills.
Must be willing to complete an on‑site evaluation.
Clarke Mobile Diesel Technician – Truck Mechanic Responsibilities
Perform field and shopwork: engine, drivetrain, steering, electrical, suspension, and brake repairs.
Conduct 90% of repairs at customer locations with occasional roadside assistance.
Execute preventive maintenance and troubleshooting duties.
Respond to after‑hours on‑call rotation and overtime opportunities.
Maintain independent work ethic and excellent communication with customers.
Qualifications
2+ years of relevant truck repair experience.
Strong independent work ethic and ability to work 70% in field, 30% in shop.
Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) a plus.
ASE certification preferred; experience with trailer repair is a significant advantage.
Managed Mobile Technician – Advanced Journeyman Responsibilities
Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medium and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers, including all major systems (engine, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical).
Operate fully equipped mobile service vehicle to deliver on‑site service across multiple counties.
Respond to dynamic job requests and manage overtime as needed.
Maintain inventory, safety equipment, and documentation for each job.
Qualifications
ASE certification in Medium/Heavy‑Duty category preferred; other ASEs also valued.
Valid driver’s license; commercial CDL preferred.
Strong diagnostic skills and experience with mobile service operations.
Ability to obtain DOT medical card and possess good driving record.
Cox Fleet – Senior Mobile Diesel Technician Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle systems, using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service trucks.
Document repairs and upload photos to company systems (TRAIT application).
Schedule and perform road tests, safety checks, and pre/post‑trip inspections.
Communicate with customers to assess needs and provide status updates.
Assist other mobile technicians and support management in quality control.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience (4-5 years preferred).
ASE certification in Medium/Heavy‑Duty categories preferred.
Commercial driver’s license (Class B with air brake endorsement) preferred.
Strong communication, independent work ethic, and ability to manage own schedule.
Dobbs Truck Group – Truck Technician Responsibilities
Maintain and repair all types of commercial trucks and equipment using a mobile service truck.
Perform diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks on engines, drivetrains, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, and powertrain systems.
Utilize diagnostic software and technical publications to determine root cause.
Maintain thorough documentation and support customer relationships.
Respond promptly to customer requests and be available after hours when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
18 years of age.
4 years of dealer experience as a diesel/service technician.
Valid driver’s license and qualified MVR abstract.
Minimum tool requirements (see employer).
Desired Qualifications
High school graduate or GED with 5 years of dealership experience.
Commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Strong customer service skills and ability to work independently.
