Pay Range:
$50.15 - $81.62 per hour

Summary The Enterprise Ambulatory Access Design & Optimization Manager leads the enterprise strategy, governance, and design of Epic decision trees that support patient scheduling across all ambulatory departments. This role ensures that access design consistently prioritizes the patient experience, operational efficiency, and system-wide access goals.
The Enterprise Ambulatory Access Design & Optimization Manager develops and maintains the governance structure for Epic Cadence and MyChart decision trees and ensures that decision tree design supports key access KPIs including 14-day access, fill rates, and point-of-care scheduling.
This role partners closely with clinic leadership, the Access Center, and Capacity Management consultants to ensure that scheduling workflows are thoughtfully designed, standardized where appropriate, and optimized to support timely patient access.
The Enterprise Ambulatory Access Design & Optimization Manager must combine strategic thinking, operational insight, and strong Epic technical skills to design and build decision trees that improve patient access while maintaining enterprise standards.

Epic Cadence Certification
Documented experience building advanced decision trees in Epic Cadence
Documented experience building advanced decision trees in Epic MyChart
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, informatics, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in healthcare operations, patient access, or scheduling optimization
2+ years of Epic Cadence build or decision tree design experience
Preferred Qualifications

Epic MyChart Badge
Experience working in enterprise-level patient access or capacity management environments
Experience leading governance structures or operational design frameworks
Knowledge of access metrics including 14-day access, fill rates, and scheduling performance indicators

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Enterprise Access Design & Governance
Develop and lead the enterprise decision tree governance structure for Epic Cadence and MyChart scheduling workflows.
Establish standards, documentation practices, and change management processes for decision tree design across the health system.
Ensure that patient access remains the central principle in all decision tree design decisions.
Decision Tree Design & Optimization
Design and optimize Epic Cadence and MyChart decision trees to support efficient scheduling workflows and improved patient experience.
Ensure decision trees support enterprise access priorities including:
14-day access
Fill rate optimization
Point-of-care scheduling
Maintain accurate and up-to-date Visio diagrams of all Cadence and MyChart decision tree builds across the enterprise.
Operational Collaboration
Partner with clinic leadership, Access Center leadership, and Capacity Management consultants to review and evaluate decision tree change requests.
Provide strategic guidance to ensure proposed changes align with enterprise access strategy and patient access goals.
Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert on decision tree design and scheduling workflow optimization.
Epic Build & Technical Leadership
Build and maintain decision tree configurations within Epic Cadence and MyChart.
Ensure builds are accurate, scalable, and aligned with system design standards.
Identify opportunities to leverage advanced Epic functionality to improve scheduling workflows and patient access.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
Proactively analyze scheduling workflows and decision tree performance to identify issues impacting:
Patient experience
Scheduling errors
Access KPIs
Recommend and implement improvements that enhance scheduling efficiency and patient access.
Innovation & Future Strategy
Research emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities to integrate AI into access design and scheduling workflows.
Develop business cases for the adoption of advanced tools that improve patient access and scheduling efficiency.
