Project Manager – Life Sciences (Design & Construction) Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), which now includes Project Management Advisors (PMA), is seeking a Project Manager to join our Life Sciences team in Boston. This is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA.
At B&D, we lead the planning, development, and management of places that shape communities. Our Life Sciences team delivers technically complex, mission‑critical laboratories, research, and biotech facilities. As a Project Manager you will work directly with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to manage planning, design, and construction for new builds, renovations, and tenant improvements.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison between clients and project teams throughout the full project lifecycle
Manage planning, design, and construction activities for life science facilities, including new construction and tenant improvements
Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets, schedules, and reporting tools to ensure alignment with project goals
Review architectural and engineering drawings to confirm alignment with program requirements and client objectives
Coordinate procurement of design, construction, and consultant services
Support contract development, negotiation, review, and administration for design and construction agreements
Facilitate project meetings, prepare agendas, document minutes, and track action items to ensure accountability
Provide ongoing analysis of budget and schedule impacts, including review of changes and potential risk mitigation strategies
Oversee construction activities in collaboration with design teams to ensure compliance with contract documents and quality standards
Support value engineering efforts and evaluate alternative solutions with clients and project teams
Coordinate peer reviews and specialty consultants as needed for complex project requirements
Authorize and support the processing of contracts, purchase orders, and progress payment applications
Monitor construction progress and report on project status, risks, and issues
Manage project closeout activities to ensure successful completion and turnover
Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, interviews, and networking opportunities
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in project management, development, or construction management, ideally within life sciences or complex commercial real estate
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or a related field
Demonstrated ability to manage successful projects and consistently meet or exceed client expectations and deadlines
Strong understanding of design and construction processes, including document review and contractor coordination
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and reporting systems
Ability to interpret and evaluate architectural and engineering documentation
Strong communication and relationship‑management skills with clients, consultants, and contractors
Experience supporting contract negotiation, administration, and procurement processes
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment

Salary range: $100,000 – $150,000. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and market data.
