We are seeking a Senior Data Business Analyst to drive data-focused initiatives that support business growth, operational excellence, and stakeholder success. This role serves as a critical bridge between business teams, technology teams, data engineers, analytics teams, and external partners to ensure business needs are translated into effective data and technology solutions.
About the Role The ideal candidate possesses a strong blend of business analysis, data analysis, and stakeholder management skills. You will work across a variety of initiatives involving data products, reporting solutions, process improvements, integrations, and strategic business transformation efforts.
Responsibilities Business Analysis & Requirements Management
Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, processes, challenges, and data requirements.
Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and technical requirements.
Create user stories, business requirements documents, functional specifications, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and discovery sessions.
Ensure end-to-end traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify opportunities for process optimization and business improvement.
Collaborate with development and engineering teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and successfully implemented.
Data Analysis & Data Product Support
Analyze large and complex datasets to support business decision-making.
Work closely with data engineers, analytics teams, and technology stakeholders to define and implement data requirements.
Support the development and enhancement of data products and reporting solutions.
Perform data validation and data quality assessments.
Investigate and troubleshoot data discrepancies, inconsistencies, and quality issues.
Translate business needs into scalable data solutions and reporting capabilities.
Support ongoing enhancements to data integrations and data warehouse environments.
Stakeholder Management
Build strong relationships with business leaders, technical teams, and external stakeholders.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Act as a trusted advisor for business process and data-related initiatives.
Support project delivery by aligning stakeholders around priorities and business outcomes.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst, or Senior Business Analyst.
Proven experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and technical requirements.
Strong understanding of business processes, system workflows, and user journey documentation.
Experience working with APIs, enterprise applications, third-party integrations, and data warehouse environments.
Advanced SQL expertise is required, including complex joins, subqueries, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), aggregations, window functions, data validation, data profiling, performance optimization, and querying large datasets.
Hands-on experience performing data analysis, troubleshooting data quality issues, and conducting root-cause investigations.
Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server (SSMS), Databricks, Snowflake, or similar data platforms.
Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and collaborate effectively with development and engineering teams.
Experience working in Agile environments, including user story creation, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance industry experience.
Experience with insurance policy administration systems, claims systems, or insurance data platforms.
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
Experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM).
Familiarity with Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
Experience supporting enterprise data transformation initiatives.
Experience working with globally distributed teams.
