Job Overview M&J is seeking a Data/Business Analyst to provide analytical, data-driven insights to improve operational performance, financial efficiency, and strategic decision-making across key business areas.
Responsibilities
Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform WMATA’s operational and business objectives.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance metrics using Power BI, or other visualization tools.
Collaborate with WMATA departments to gather business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
Conduct data validation, quality assurance, and integrity checks across multiple data sources.
Support the creation of data models, predictive analyses, and forecasting tools to enhance planning and resource allocation.
Document business processes, workflows, and system interfaces for continuous process improvement.
Assist project managers and technical teams with business case development, impact assessments, and performance reporting.
Support ad-hoc data requests, KPIs, and performance monitoring as required by WMATA leadership.
Ensure compliance with WMATA’s data governance, security, and reporting standards.
Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
5+ years of professional experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or related role.
Proficiency in SQL, Excel (advanced), and data manipulation/cleansing techniques.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical teams.
Experience supporting transportation, government, or public sector clients (WMATA experience is highly desirable).
Knowledge of WMATA’s systems, KPIs, and operational data frameworks.
Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, PMBOK, etc.).
Experience with Python, R, or other statistical tools a plus.
