Job Description The Supply Chain & Distribution Data Engineer is a highly organized, collaborative, and effective communicator who partners with the business analytics and data architecture teams to ensure data alignment and availability for reporting and analysis. The person in this role will be involved directly with the Supply Chain and Distribution teams, working to enable the core functions of these teams by locating, translating, and consolidating data into well‑structured and sustainable fact tables. This role communicates business needs into scalable data architecture and logic, supporting the development of an enterprise‑level data warehouse by leveraging their knowledge of enterprise data architecture and their SQL expertise.
The Data Engineer is responsible for meeting the business and IT organization’s needs. She/He delivers projects that help to support our operational teams and that are aligned with the larger infrastructure goals of CooperSurgical and CooperCompanies. Through the development and maintenance of consistent enterprise models and tables, they ensure the sustainable growth of Cooper’s data environments. They will manage Microsoft Fabric infrastructure used by reporting teams and ensure consistency and alignment across business units so that all reports pull from centralized, validated sources.
Success in this role is defined by the ability to deliver trusted and well‑modeled data products to support operational reporting and ongoing analytics projects. They will ensure that critical business processes are supported by reliable, high‑quality data that drives informed decision‑making.
Responsibilities
Communication of complex data structure and nuances to business stakeholders to arrive at informed decisions
Translation of business requirements to actionable technical solutions
Implement and monitor efficient data ingestion and transformation from multiple source systems for Microsoft Fabrics reporting
Maintain enterprise‑level Fabric lakehouses, warehouses, and Power BI semantic models
Map the data and logic of different ERP systems into central sources within a database
Deliver on business needs on schedule while supporting ongoing building toward a modern, scalable data warehouse and reporting platform.
Qualifications
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric infrastructure and PowerBI data modeling and reporting.
Proficient in SQL (Python a plus).
Experience translating complex business needs into actionable technical solutions.
Demonstrated ability to gather and consolidate different streams of data into consolidated locations
Ability to build and maintain relationships by engaging business process owners and analysts to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.
Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Able to estimate technical work and build out a task plan and timeline with a project manager
Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
Excellent time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Project, SharePoint, Outlook, Planview and ServiceNow.
Technical familiarity with ERP systems (D365, Microsoft Navision, etc.) a plus.
3 years’ experience in data engineering or data analytics
Demonstrated success in communication across business domains
Familiarity with data modeling, data governance frameworks, and data quality management
High level of expertise in SQL
High familiarity with Microsoft Fabric platform
Education Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Analytics, or equivalent technical field
