Über
Purpose of the position: Tests and conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.
Responsibilities
Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process and compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
Perform analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment and perform calculations to measure factors; test product to verify factors; collect and record results of sampling and testing to maintain records of product quality.
Collect, measure, and weigh samples of materials.
Assist in implementing a total quality management program and/or train others on total quality management.
Participate as a member of the team; contribute to development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members; attend appropriate team meetings.
Foster cohesiveness among team members and promptly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, communicating concerns to the team leader and working to resolve issues; support actions that enhance synergy within the organization.
Familiarize with Simmons operating systems and contribute to the achievement of quality, security, and policy objectives; understand the position's role in supporting these systems and communicate improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent; able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Must be able to pass company-issued Quality Assurance test.
Technical/Industry experience: N/A
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Standing for the shift; bending at the waist; uses both hands; walking; lift up to 55 lbs.; must be able to tolerate temperatures above 100°F or below 32°F at any given time. The working environment is wet, cold, and at times slippery. Personal safety is essential. PPE includes hair net(s), hearing protection, gloves, apron, sleeve guards (if required), mesh gloves (if using knife or scissors), and smock.
