A leading quantitative trading firm is seeking a Senior HPC Engineer to help design and evolve the platforms underpinning some of the firm's most demanding research, analytics, and compute environments.
This is a highly technical role focused on the intersection of high-performance computing, data infrastructure, and modern storage architecture.
You'll work on large-scale challenges around how data is stored, accessed, moved, and optimized across compute-intensive workloads, while helping shape the next generation of the firm's infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate high-performance storage and data infrastructure platforms
Architect solutions supporting large-scale research, analytics, AI/ML, and compute workloads
Drive performance optimisation across storage, networking, and data access layers
Develop automation and self-service capabilities for infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management
Improve scalability, reliability, observability, and operational efficiency across distributed environments
Evaluate and implement new technologies across storage, data, and cloud platforms
Partner closely with infrastructure, platform, and engineering teams to define long-term architecture strategy
Troubleshoot complex issues spanning storage, Linux, networking, and distributed systems
Requirements
Strong experience building and operating large-scale storage, data, or HPC infrastructure environments
Deep understanding of storage architecture, data access patterns, data layout, and performance optimisation
Experience with parallel, distributed, or high-performance storage technologies
Experience with technologies such as GPFS/Spectrum Scale, Lustre, Weka, BeeGFS, VAST, NetApp, Pure Storage, or similar platforms
Experience working across on-premises and cloud environments with a strong understanding of architectural trade-offs
Scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash, or similar tools
