Senior Visual Content Specialist
to join its dynamic, award‑winning creative team. The successful candidate will contribute to the creative expression of the Penn State brand and provide day‑to‑day leadership of the visual content team.
Reporting to the Lead Visual Content Specialist, the person in this role will actively contribute to the production process from conception to completion, collaborating with creative team members and stakeholders across academic, administrative, and research units to produce multimedia content that inspires and engages key audiences and supports institutional priorities.
Due to the in‑person requirements associated with visual content production, this position is expected to be in the office five days a week and will require occasional evening and weekend hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand the brand‑level goals and strategies of each creative project and translate them into effective, on‑brand, industry‑leading multimedia solutions.
Manage available resources to execute and deliver compelling University‑level multimedia content that strengthens the Penn State brand and supports strategic priorities.
Assist in managing the resources of the visual content team within the central Office of Strategic Communications.
Research, develop content, brainstorm script ideas, establish production schedules, conduct interviews, and edit all components into compelling brand storytelling products.
Recommend opportunities to elevate the Penn State brand through storytelling.
Provide thorough, efficient, and clear communication to team members, the Lead Visual Content Specialist, leadership, and internal and external stakeholders when appropriate.
Maintain creative exploration and evolution by staying knowledgeable about industry trends in design, motion, storytelling, PR, marketing, technology advancements, and the latest visual storytelling tools and tactics.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Deep understanding of the production process (pre‑production, production, and post‑production) with experience planning, supporting, and creating high‑quality productions.
Informed knowledge of industry standards for content production and skills in new production, editing, and motion‑design trends, including colorization and AI‑supported production optimization.
Collaborative team player and project leader who is highly organized in both digital and communicative aspects.
Ability to interpret and create detailed, efficient communications that include project summaries, updates, and technical production documents.
Knowledge of or experience directing production crews, script writing, graphic design, motion design, and AI image generation for creative concepting.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. No certifications required.
BACKGROUND CHECKS / CLEARANCES Employment will require successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.
SALARY & BENEFITS The salary range for this position is $61,800.00 – $89,600.00.
