Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
Direct customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card. Provide premier customer service.
Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for own actions and outcomes.
Maintain store appearance.
Sales
Cross‑sell products and know the layout of the store.
Suggest latest trends and current promotions based on individual customer needs.
Upsell products.
Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide product knowledge and specs.
Process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit/debit card transactions, and handle cash including counting money and returning accurate amounts.
Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
Inventory
Be responsible for all inventory processes, ensuring merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed. May participate in periodic inventories.
Secure cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
Provide direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects/tasks, managing merchandise and inventory.
Dependability
Adhere to assigned work schedule and follow through on assignments accurately and completely.
Supervisory Requirements
Provide effective leadership, demonstrate ability to direct, train, and motivate associates, and set a positive example.
Provide coaching and feedback promptly and professionally.
Assign work and provide training to sales associates.
Provide input to Department Manager on associate performance.
May open and close locations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Product knowledge: moderate level of knowledge of products and merchandise.
Provide training documentation on product features to sales associates.
Experience
1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate with customers, peers, and management, including telephone etiquette.
Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of calculator, calculation of percentages and ratios, making change in U.S. monetary units.
Reasoning ability and multitasking while being attentive to customers and flexible to business needs.
Teamwork and initiative, independent of direct supervision.
Defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours.
May involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
Vision: close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments.
Performed indoors, may be assigned outdoors depending on location.

Work Hours
Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
General Experience 1 year of responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind, demonstrating ability to perform satisfactorily.
Specialized Experience 1 year of progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing duties that constitute the principal work of the position.
Substitution of Education for Experience College, university, or junior college above high school level may be substituted on the basis of one‑half academic year of study for 6 months of experience. At any level, specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience. Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess or have the potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision.
