Reports To: General Manager
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and develop a high-performing sales team while protecting and growing one of our company's greatest assets, our long-term customer relationships.
This role is ideal for someone who understands that selling customized products is fundamentally different than selling commodities. Success requires balancing creativity, consultation, project management, and relationship building while leading a team through complex sales cycles and repeat annual business.
Our customers don't simply place orders; they trust us to help recognize achievements, celebrate milestones, and support meaningful events. We are looking for a leader who values those partnerships and can help our sales organization continue delivering exceptional service year after year.
What You'll Be Responsible For As our Sales Manager, you will oversee a team of approximately seven sales professionals while helping shape the future direction of our sales organization.
Lead, coach, and develop the sales team through regular one‑on‑one meetings and training.
Drive sustainable revenue growth through a balance of customer retention and new business development.
Analyze year‑over‑year customer activity to identify repeat business opportunities and recover dormant accounts.
Develop systems that ensure customers are proactively contacted before annual reorder cycles.
Partner with marketing, operations, customer service, and finance to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Support strategic customer relationships and assist with complex projects and negotiations.
Maintain sales forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM discipline.
Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
The Kind of Experience We're Looking For We're looking for someone who understands the unique nature of customized, project‑based sales environments.
Preferred Backgrounds Include
Awards and Recognition, Promotional Products, Branded Merchandise, Corporate Gifts, Printing and Packaging, Apparel Decoration, Signage and Graphics, Custom Manufacturing, Specialty Distribution, Event Services, and/or Business‑to‑Business Consultative Sales
You understand that success comes from asking the right questions, managing expectations, coordinating internal teams, and building trust, not simply quoting a price.
What Makes This Role Different
A significant portion of our business comes from repeat customers who order annually or on predictable cycles.
In addition to finding new business, you'll lead efforts to:
Compare current‑year customer activity against prior years.
Identify customers who have not yet reordered.
Develop strategies to recover lost or declining accounts.
Strengthen long‑term customer relationships.
Build systems that help the sales team stay proactive rather than reactive.
We believe retaining and growing existing customers is just as important as acquiring new ones.
Qualifications Required
Five or more years of progressive B2B sales experience.
Two or more years of sales leadership or management experience.
Experience leading and developing sales professionals.
Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
Experience with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
Ability to analyze sales data and identify customer trends.
Highly Preferred
Experience selling customized or made‑to‑order products.
Experience working in manufacturing or production‑supported sales environments.
Familiarity with artwork approvals, custom specifications, project timelines, and consultative selling.
Experience managing repeat‑order or relationship‑based customer portfolios.
Success in the Role Looks Like
Increase customer retention.
Improve year‑over‑year account growth.
Recover dormant accounts.
Strengthen sales forecasting accuracy.
Improve CRM adoption and sales process consistency.
Develop and coach a highly engaged sales team.
Foster stronger collaboration between sales and operations.
