Über

The System Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise for Avail projects including the deployment of hardware and software technology in transit vehicles. Activities and responsibilities include planning, concept development, system requirements evaluation, systems analysis, architecture development, system design, product testing, system implementation, and system operations and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership on multiple complex projects simultaneously working with customers, consultants, and internal teams to meet customer and corporate goals
Specification and derivation of project requirements and preparation of system implementation plans, design documentation, and formal test plans and procedures
Develop and present engineering design and system implementation documents and review with customers and consultants
Work closely with the Program Manager and deployment engineers
Conduct project requirements and design reviews, as well as testing phases with customers, subcontractors, and consultants
Lead technical troubleshooting and problem solving
Participate in the design of hardware and software systems by providing requirements, use cases and operational feedback to engineers
Perform risk analysis during project and create plans to mitigate risks
Responsible for system deployments and customers adoption of Avail products during project phase
Monitor system performance to ensure the proper operation of deployed systems
Skills
Knowledge of J1708, J1939, CAN, multiplexing vehicle network systems is preferred
Experience with deciphering protocols and Interface Control Documents is preferred
Experience with Remote Desktop, SQL, Microsoft software products, and basic networking is preferred
Electrical and mechanical aptitude is preferred
Knowledge of RF basics is preferred
Ability to use and interpret engineering tools such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes or data capture devices is preferred
Knowledge of system wide and unit-level troubleshooting techniques is preferred
Self-reliant individual with the desire to work as a team player who has strong organizational skills and a methodical approach and the desire to solve challenging issues
Ability to lead technical discussions concerning all elements of an Avail system
Proficiency with all technology areas is not required but must be able to understand the potential issues in the various areas and provide meaningful input and risk identification/abatement
Excellent soft skills such as teamwork and collaboration, adaptability, and critical observation
Ability to lead, motivate, and prioritize tasking for technical teams
