About the Job Position: General Supervisor – Mobile Equipment Maintenance Location: Rochester Mine, Lovelock, Nevada. This role assists in the implementation and management of preventive and corrective maintenance systems for mobile fleets. The fleet includes Komatsu PC4000 and Hitachi 2600 face shovels, CAT 994K loaders, CAT 789 haul trucks, CAT 6250 and DML drills, Epiroc 235 Viper Drill, CAT D10 dozers, and various support vehicles.
Responsibilities
Work closely and mentor the Mobile Maintenance Supervisors to follow all planned work throughout the shift as well as manage the reactive workload that may occur.
Enforce compliance with the weekly planning schedule and planned work order management.
Promote timely, efficient, and effective execution of PM services. Oversee and monitor scheduled major repair outages (PCR’s) and similar projects, working closely with shift supervisors and contractors to identify and manage bottlenecks, functional capability gaps, and constraints to achieve the department dashboard KPI metrics.
Recommend and implement changes as needed to ensure continuous improvement in project execution and efficient work practices.
Ensure the Maintenance team is equipped with required parts, workforce, and logistics for successful execution of work.
Mentor crew lineouts, assist in effective safety meetings, and aid in daily work plans to guarantee quality work and compliance with work plans.
Collaborate with the Sr. Mobile Maintenance Trainer to foster employee development, identify technical training needs, and support upward progression through continuous improvement opportunities for Front‑line Supervisors.
Participate in employee recognition and disciplinary actions.
Set priorities for the weekly planned maintenance schedule and work with the Mine Operations team to meet equipment availability goals.
Monitor actual costs versus budget in partnership with the Planning Group and fellow General Supervisors to stay within monthly and annual objectives.
Ensure all major and minor components are documented internally and staged for core credit returns or rebuilds in a timely manner.
Continuously monitor warehouse inventory for slow‑moving items, recommending proper inventory updates as needed.
Act as fill‑in for the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent when required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in an open‑pit mining maintenance environment focused on all aspects of mobile mining equipment.
Hands‑on experience as a heavy equipment mechanic of large mobile equipment, including shovels and drills.
Minimum of five years’ experience as a front‑line mobile maintenance supervisor in an open‑pit mine.
5+ years of planning and scheduling knowledge, using CMMS programs; Oracle R12 preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Skill in presenting information clearly, understandably, and respectfully.
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Effective communication with the Mine Operations group and Management on all maintenance issues.
Ability to work with planning and reliability teams to assist in reporting fleet availability numbers weekly and monthly.
Willingness and ability to work a modified work schedule that may include weekends.
Valid driver’s license required.
High School Diploma or GED.
