Freelance Data Analyst / Analytics Engineer
Chez Phenix, we are convinced that a world without waste is possible. We empower everyone—companies, associations, citizens—to take action against waste, both food and non-food, and save more than 70 million meals each year. We are launching a new product aimed at large retail actors. The product collects and analyzes their data to build indicators and detect anomalies, helping them better manage their unsold inventory and reduce waste. Our existing products rely on a team of Analytics Engineers and an established data stack; this new vertical starts without an existing data foundation. We are looking for a freelancer to lay the data foundations alongside the product manager and the dev team. Your main responsibilities: Explore and validate data from store information systems (heterogeneous sources, varying formats and granularities). Identify and build indicators useful to stores, and the first bricks of anomaly detection. Design the data model used by the product. Accompany the product manager in identifying needs, and the dev team in designing the solution. If you wish to thrive in an impactful startup, Phenix offers the opportunity to work with motivated, dynamic, and committed teams. Do not hesitate to apply if: You have several years of experience as a Data Analyst / Analytics Engineer, preferably in retail. You are proficient in data modeling and SQL. You are proficient in BigQuery (essential); knowledge of dbt is a plus. Data engineering skills are a plus. You are comfortable with data visualization, regardless of the tool. You are autonomous and can structure from a blank slate. Terms: Duration of the mission: 3 months Pace (days/week): 2 to 3 days per week Hourly rate or range: to be discussed Remote / in-person: Remote with an onboarding phase in Paris or Lyon Start date: ASAP The environment you will join us in: An ambitious project that has a real positive impact on society. Our goal: 100 million meals saved per year! A company culture based on social and environmental solidarity values, diversity, and well-being (each new Phenix member participates, for example, during their integration in The Climate Fresco or in a 2 Tonnes workshop). Phenix is also certified B-Corp and ESUS. Transparent and regular sharing of the strategy from the COMEX. Complete onboarding support from your first steps as a Phenix member, with a 2-day onboarding in Paris to understand the entire environment and an adapted training program for the first three months. Regular internal training for skill development delivered by and for Phenix members on business, sector, and soft skills topics. The possibility to invest in cross-functional projects (e.g., working groups to promote inclusion and diversity, to fight sexism). Our recruitment process: A first 30-minute exchange with Maude (Product Manager) and Anthony (CPTO) to discuss the project. A technical discussion to validate the fit with our expectations and technical constraints. If this can reassure you, know that this job description is indicative: if you do not "check" all the boxes of the desired profile, curiosity and a desire to learn are your best assets. At Phenix, we do not seek experience at all costs but evaluate potential! All our offers are, of course, open to people with disabilities, and we will always find solutions to adapt the position if you have particular constraints.
