The Advana team is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their program. Advana is the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office's (CDAO) enterprise-wide, multi-domain data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) platform that provides all DoW military and civilian decision makers, analysts, and builders with unprecedented access to enterprise data, tools, and capabilities. Responsibilities for this position include: Data Engineer Senior (C.5.4) - Designs, builds, and operates enterprise-grade Advana data pipelines supporting ingestion, transformation, movement, and storage across Unclassified and NIPR, Secret and SIPR, and Top Secret and JWICS enclaves. Architects scalable frameworks using Apache Airflow, Kafka, AWS Glue, Databricks, and Spark to deliver automated, fault-tolerant flows aligned with mission requirements for Combatant Commands, Joint Staff elements, and interagency partners. Establishes medallion-architecture zones using bronze, silver, and gold tiers to govern data refinement, optimize lineage tracking, and strengthen analytics readiness. Implements data quality monitoring capabilities using Great Expectations, Soda, and custom validation gates to detect drift, measure completeness, and elevate accuracy across distributed lakes. Applies encryption, IAM policies, role-segregated access, and cross-domain guards to maintain compliance with cybersecurity directives. Leads engineering of self-service connection utilities enabling standardized inbound and outbound integration patterns for mission owners. Directs root-cause analysis, Tier-3 support responses, performance optimization, and AoA evaluations that recommend modernization paths for cataloging, orchestration, and observability tools. Produces architecture diagrams, engineering guides, governance documents, and performance dashboards that quantify latency reduction, throughput increases, and platform resilience improvements. Mentors multi-enclave teams and synchronizes with customer-facing groups to translate operational pain points into scalable data engineering enhancements that strengthen Advana enterprise readiness. The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
