Salary: £35,200 - £45,700
Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid)

We are looking for a customer‑focused and collaborative Product Owner to help shape and deliver high‑value data analysis products that support business decision‑making. This is an exciting opportunity to work across teams, prioritise meaningful outcomes, and grow your career in an organisation committed to helping you pursue your potential.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world‑leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About the role The Product Owner for Data Analysis is responsible for defining, prioritising and delivering high‑quality data products and analytics tools that enable insight‑driven decision‑making across the Academic Department. Working within a Data Mesh framework, the role leads the end‑to‑end design and delivery of Academic domain data products, partnering closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts and technology teams. The role is accountable for ensuring data products are scalable, reusable and aligned to strategic priorities, while driving Agile delivery through effective sprint planning, backlog management and continuous iteration using tools such as Jira.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities
Define and own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for data products and analytics development within a Data Mesh architecture
Translate business needs from Data Product owners into clearly defined user stories and acceptance criteria
Lead the design and build lifecycle of data products, business intelligence tools and analytics from concept through to deployment and iteration
Collaborate with data engineering, BI, and analytics teams to ensure robust, scalable solutions
Own and manage the product backlog within Jira, ensuring prioritisation reflects business value
Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews
Monitor progress, remove blockers, and ensure timely delivery of sprint commitments
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40–60% of their time collaborating and connecting face‑to‑face at a dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment.
About You You will be an Agile Product Owner with experience in a Product Owner role, ideally in a technical or data‑focused environment. You will have a good understanding of Data Mesh principles, including data product design and delivery, and the end‑to‑end management of analytics from source to insight. You will be confident leading Agile delivery in a customer‑focused setting, turning business needs into clear, deliverable requirements and helping shape complex data products from design through to delivery. You will also bring strong attention to detail and a practical, quality‑focused approach, with a track record of delivering successful products.
Desirable:
Experience establishing processes within a new team environment, with knowledge of the Academic sector including publisher products, services and wider industry trends.
Strong commercial awareness to identify business priorities and maintain a clear focus on value.
