Job Summary Coordinate and perform maintenance and development of the information technology systems that support the College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. Manage a COM IT staff member, collaborate with the COM Research IT manager to coordinate research IT efforts, manage the operational support environment, and participate in planning new and ongoing IT system requirements for research and related systems across the College of Medicine. Responsibilities Maintain and develop IT systems supporting the Department of Pediatrics. Supervise one COM IT staff member (20% developer, 80% support); provide guidance and ensure timely, accurate service. Collaborate with the COM Research IT manager and research staff to coordinate effort from the COM IT Research team. Manage the operational support environment, including the timely resolution of operational tasks and management of priorities. Participate in the planning of new and ongoing IT system requirements for research IT and related systems. Document projects, procedures, and systems for dissemination to the COM IT team. Consult on data storage, sharing, and collaboration best practices; advise on server-based, web-based, and SaaS systems. Create, configure, and maintain data collection and reporting instruments for the Department of Pediatrics. Identify and gather system and security requirements for new departmental systems; administer and maintain systems in production. Perform regular IT security oversight, maintenance, and audits on COM protected data systems; project manage system projects for departmental divisions. Configure, install, and troubleshoot software for College of Medicine faculty and staff. Specify, install, and configure workstations, printers, personal data devices, and other equipment for faculty and staff; set standards for devices. Maintain and troubleshoot problems with workstations, printers, and other devices. Supervise operational responsibilities for a staff member; ensure professional service to departments and research services. Design, maintain, and support Department of Pediatrics audio/visual enabled rooms; coordinate technical requirements for AV spaces and Grand Rounds. Create documentation and training on IT-related topics; train faculty, staff, and lower-level IT personnel. Maintain inventory control procedures for Information Technology. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics, management information science, or related field; at least four years of experience in telecommunications, data processing, and/or information technology. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis. Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions in standing and seated positions, while walking and performing repetitive hand movements; work indoors and in confined spaces; lift or move objects up to 15 lbs.; maintain vision and hearing to perform required tasks.
