WGL - Communications Specialist, Content Strategy Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Communications Specialist for Content Strategy will be a key player in crafting a diverse range of content that drives our internal and external communications strategies. This dynamic role involves collaborating with Washington Gas departments to create and coordinate content that enhances the Washington Gas brand within our operating footprint and the broader natural gas industry. You will create engaging and informative content across multiple platforms and support the company during emergency situations.
You Will
Develop short and long‑form content, including talking points, advertorials, video scripts, speeches, web content, social media posts, and internal employee communications
Collaborate with subject‑matter experts in various departments to gather information and ensure accuracy and relevance of content
Tailor content to different audiences, including customers, employees, stakeholders, and the general public
Ensure all content aligns with the company’s brand, voice, messaging, and communications goals
Edit and proofread content to maintain high standards of quality and consistency
Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends and best practices in content creation and communications
Assist in the development and execution of communications campaigns and initiatives
Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
You Have
2–4 years of experience in a communications role
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong understanding of content creation for various platforms, including digital and print
Experience translating technical concepts into consumer‑friendly language
Strong project‑management skills and experience working effectively within and across different teams
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure on several projects simultaneously
Ability to work effectively with all levels of organization
Knowledge of power, gas, and utility industries considered an asset
Familiarity with SEO best practices and social media platforms considered an asset
Undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field is a benefit
We offer a competitive salary range of $95,400 to $138,075 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills, and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
