About the role We are seeking a skilled Mobile Fitter to support our Asset and Technology Solutions business , working across multiple project sites. This is a site-based role where you will play a key part in maintaining and repairing a fleet of specialist construction plant, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and operating efficiently.
Reporting to the Service & Maintenance Manager, you will work closely with operational teams, site management, and suppliers to deliver high-quality maintenance and repair services. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across the UK, supporting critical construction operations.
What you'll be doing
Carrying out maintenance and repair activities on heavy plant and specialist equipment in line with company policies, safe systems of work and manufacturer requirements
Diagnosing faults and undertaking effective repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency
Conducting routine inspections and completing accurate reports in a timely manner
Supporting the erection and dismantling of equipment on site as required
Liaising with site teams, clients and suppliers to coordinate access and ensure repairs are completed efficiently
Assisting or directing manufacturers’ technicians where specialist support is required
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
Participating in daily briefings and contributing to a strong safety culture
Reporting any defects, safety concerns or incidents promptly through the appropriate channels
Providing clear updates to management on equipment condition, progress of repairs and any issues impacting delivery
Who we're looking for We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in plant maintenance and repair, ideally within a construction or infrastructure environment.
Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant or construction equipment
Experience working on major construction or infrastructure projects
A strong understanding of safe systems of work and health and safety requirements
The ability to diagnose faults and interpret technical manuals
Relevant qualifications in plant diagnostics and repair (e.g. CSCS or equivalent)
IPAF certification (desirable)
A full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel across multiple UK sites
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Good planning and organisational abilities with a proactive approach to problem solving
The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
