Position Description & Qualifications Serco supports CMS, a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to continue supporting eligibility determinations for consumers purchasing health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges.
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows and/or Linux environments.
Support enterprise infrastructure including compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud resources.
Support hybrid infrastructure environments including AWS and on‑premises systems.
Perform system installations, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
Monitor system health, performance, and capacity.
Troubleshoot server, operating system, and infrastructure‑related issues.
Support AWS infrastructure and cloud‑native services.
Assist with automation using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
Implement and maintain system hardening standards and security baselines.
Support vulnerability remediation and patch compliance activities.
Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with networking, cybersecurity, development, and DevOps teams.
Participate in on‑call rotation and after‑hours maintenance activities as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
3–6 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure operations.
Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux systems.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
Experience supporting AWS cloud services.
Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity management.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation.
Ability to work occasional evening or weekend maintenance activities.
Ability to support production operational environments with high availability requirements.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Experience supporting DevOps or Agile environments.
Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD tooling and automation pipelines.
Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, and firewalls.
Familiarity with Jira and Jira Service Management.
Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms such as Splunk, OpenSearch, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks.
Relevant AWS, Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, or Security certifications.

Salary range: The range for this position can be found at the top of this posting. This range is provided as a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate across all experience levels. Actual base salary will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the scope of the role, relevant experience, job‑related knowledge, education and training, key skills, and geographic market considerations. For roles available in multiple states, the range may vary to reflect differences in local labor markets. In addition to base salary, eligible positions may include other forms of compensation such as annual bonuses or long‑term incentive opportunities.
