The successful candidate will serve as a key contributor supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse for Research (EDW4R) and other research data platforms. Responsibilities include data querying, cohort identification, data validation, data integration, reporting, and support for research data workflows. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary research environments.
This role is not entry level and requires prior experience working with healthcare or biomedical data, including familiarity with EHR systems and healthcare data structures. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, collaborative, adaptable, and capable of independently solving complex data problems in support of clinical and translational research initiatives.
Responsibilities
Utilize SQL and related database technologies to extract, transform, validate, and analyze clinical and research data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse for Research (EDW4R) and related systems
Collaborate with researchers and project teams to define data requirements, cohort criteria, and reporting specifications
Develop and maintain reports, queries, dashboards, and supporting documentation for research and operational needs
Create and maintain database objects, forms, extracts, and reporting workflows supporting research initiatives
Review and interpret database specifications, data models, and research data requirements
Participate in data modeling and metadata management activities related to clinical and research datasets
Provide analysis, design, implementation, and operational support for research data and reporting solutions
Develop and maintain programmatic solutions and automation workflows supporting research data operations
Provide technical and operational support for research data and associated workflows
Support routine database administration activities, including review, validation, and security processes
Follow established core practices and processes
Coordinate and provide support on activities across multiple concurrent projects and priorities
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with healthcare, clinical, biomedical, or research data
Experience querying and analyzing data using SQL or related database technologies
Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) data and healthcare terminology systems
Understanding of healthcare data structures, clinical workflows, and healthcare coding systems (ICD, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in collaborative environments
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across interdisciplinary teams
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working with Epic, including Clarity, Caboodle, or related reporting databases
Epic Certifications: Clarity, Caboodle
Experience supporting clinical, translational, or academic research initiatives
Familiarity with research data warehouses and large-scale healthcare datasets
Experience using Python, R, SAS, or similar tools for data analysis or automation
Familiarity with healthcare interoperability and data exchange standards such as HL7 or FHIR
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI
Experience working within academic healthcare or CTSA-supported environments
Familiarity with HIPAA, data governance, and research compliance practices
