Über
Greet and room patients, verify identity, and obtain vital signs (height, weight, BP, temperature, pulse, respiration, BMI). Accurately document patient medical history, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with physical exams and minor procedures. Administer vaccines and medications via oral, IM, subcutaneous, and intradermal routes according to protocol. Perform venipuncture for lab draws when necessary. Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., glucose, HbA1c, rapid strep, lead screening, respiratory illness screening, urine dipstick, pregnancy tests). Conduct vision and hearing screenings as appropriate for age. Perform EKGs, spirometry, and basic wound care when ordered. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR. Maintain strict patient confidentiality, according to HIPAA laws and Northeast Florida Health Services (NEFHS) policies.
Administrative
Schedule follow-up appointments and manage recall/reminder calls. Obtain referral authorizations, when necessary, assist to obtain lab results, imaging results, and specialist consultations. Process medication refill requests per clinic policy. Ensure timely documentation and completion of prior authorizations. Participate in team meetings and quality improvement projects. Monitor and stock exam rooms and medical supply inventory. Ensure exam room cleanliness and infection control compliance.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required. Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA)
Float Expectations:
Provide coverage across multiple clinic locations to ensure continuity of care. Float to sites based on real-time staffing needs, patient demands, and operational needs. Willingness to travel between clinic locations within the service area Ability to adapt quickly to different care teams, workflows, and patient populations.
Preferred:
Experience working in primary care, community health, or ambulatory setting. Experience with both pediatric and adult populations. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Proficiency in eClinicalWorks. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
