Desktop Support Specialist Northeastern Rural Health Clinics Location: Susanville, CA | Westwood, CA | WIC Office as needed Reports to: Information Technology Systems Manager Position Summary The Desktop Support Specialist provides front - line technical support for staff across all clinic locations. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting desktop systems, laptops, printers, and other network - connected devices. The position requires efficient problem - solving, excellent customer service, and collaboration with both internal staff and external partners. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all IT - related systems run efficiently, supporting clinic operations and patient care delivery. Primary Responsibilities • Provide timely and courteous technical support using a help desk/ticketing system. • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, printers, peripherals, and software. • Support remote access via VPN, including setup and troubleshooting. • Upgrade and patch software, replace hardware components, and configure system updates. • Troubleshoot network and desktop issues; escalate complex problems when needed. • Ensure system compatibility across applications, servers, file sharing, and communication systems. • Maintain professional conduct in interactions with staff, patients, and vendors. • Maintain accurate documentation of support tasks and system configurations. • Attend training and remain current on emerging technologies and healthcare IT practices. • Support user onboarding and offboarding, including access management. • Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred). • 2+ years of experience in a desktop support or IT help desk role. • Strong customer service skills with a proactive, self - starting attitude. • Hands - on experience with: - Computer assembly and setup - Windows operating systems - VPN and remote access tools - User lifecycle and access management - Hardware and software troubleshooting • Valid Driver's License and auto liability insurance. • Flexibility to work different shifts and travel between clinic sites. Preferred Qualifications • Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and healthcare - specific applications. • Experience supporting IT in a clinical or healthcare setting. • Familiarity with HIPAA and data confidentiality requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and use of computer systems. Ability to travel by vehicle between clinic locations.
