This opportunity is for an experienced, Board-Certified Pediatric Surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical care for pediatric patients ranging from newborns to teenagers within a community health system. The provider will support both inpatient and outpatient services, managing the full spectrum of preoperative, operative, and postoperative care while collaborating closely with pediatric specialists and emergency department teams. This assignment offers a combination of clinic coverage, call coverage, patient rounding, and surgical consultations. Dates / Schedule

24/7 coverage throughout assignment Job Details / Responsibilities
Evaluate pediatric patients from newborn through teenage years to determine surgical needs. Collaborate with pediatricians, emergency department providers, and other specialists regarding patient diagnosis and treatment plans. Perform and manage:
Preoperative care Surgical procedures Postoperative care
Provide clinic coverage during weekdays. Round on admitted patients and manage ongoing surgical care. Respond to weekend surgical consults as needed. Handle emergency department consults, averaging 0 2 calls per day. Maintain rapid response times:
Maximum 15-minute callback for emergency consults Maximum 30-minute in-person response time
Manage a low daily patient volume of approximately 0 4 patients per day. Work with daytime office support staff who triage calls and prescription refill requests. Provide after-hours support, with most overnight calls originating from the Pediatric Emergency Department. Facility averages approximately 8 10 emergent pediatric surgeries annually. Required Skills & Qualifications
Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery
(Required) Active Virginia Medical License
(Required) Virginia DEA Registration
(Required) BLS Certification
(Required) PALS Certification
(Required) COVID-19 Vaccination
(Required) Ability to perform all pediatric surgical procedures outlined by the facility s practice description Must be able to meet emergency response requirements:
