Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
Job Description A Configuration Manager provides configuration and data management support to their assigned program(s). The Configuration Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and reporting on the documentation created to fulfill customer configuration and will ensure the consistency, integrity, and accuracy of system documentation, drawings, design artifacts, baselines, and related configuration information throughout the product lifecycle. You will leverage your extensive expertise to provide high‑level support and guidance to all departments supporting the program, including Program Management, Engineering, Contracts, Subcontracts, Quality, and other functions, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices.
Essential Functions
Creating and maintaining configuration baselines supporting developmental, production, and sustainment programs.
Coordinating Engineering changes ensuring approval requirements are met and implementation is managed.
Ensuring rigorous adherence to Contract Statements of Work (SOW), policies, procedures, and technical documentation. Provide strategic oversight to ensure that all documentation and configuration records meet or exceed compliance standards and that content creators follow data identification, marking, review, and release procedures.
Implementing data control methodologies preventing process or system issues and ensuring proper standards for quality are maintained.
Reviewing and approving or rejecting all formal program documentation, coordinating with contracts organizations and customers regarding new or changing requirements, and integrating with program teams to coordinate deliveries.
Ensuring identification, definition, implementation, release and maintenance of data items and Supplier and Contract Data Requirements List (SDRL and CDRL) schedules are in accordance with program requirements.
Creating Management Plans to ensure the integrity of customer requirements.
Creating Configuration Status Accounting reports for the program.
Lead and support functional and physical configuration audits, ensuring thorough preparation and adherence to audit requirements if contractually required. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on audit findings and industry best practices.
Providing high-level functional support to engineering and program management activities, including analyses, consultations, and special topic discussions as needed.
Serving as a subject matter expert, offering advanced guidance and advice on hardware configuration management methods, tools, and procedures to project teams. Act as a key liaison between management and other functional groups to address and resolve complex configuration management issues.
Directing the Configuration Change Board (CCB) process, including the review, modification, and approval of documents, drawings, and associated records, ensuring clarity, compliance, and completeness in all change‑related documentation.
Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance.
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant Configuration Management experience, or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years, or Associate’s degree with 8 years. If no degree is held, 10 years of experience is required.
Preferred Additional Skills
Extensive technical knowledge and experience in hardware configuration management or related engineering disciplines, demonstrated through advanced education and professional experience. Previous roles could include Configuration Manager, Data Manager, Quality Assurance Technician, or similar.
Knowledge of EIA‑649B/EIA‑649C and MIL‑STD‑973 Configuration Management Principles applicable to both hardware and software.
Experience using version control tools such as Agile PLM, SolidWorks, ClearCase, Subversion, Confluence, Windchill, or similar.
Experience supporting audits (government, primes).
Experience reading and understanding Contract Statements of Work and Performance Work Statements.
Knowledge of EIA‑649‑1, MIL‑STD‑973 Configuration Management principals and DD‑1423 Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs).
Familiarity with interpreting and understanding customer contract requirements (e.g., Statements of Work).
Experience supporting proposals and proposal cost estimates for Configuration and Data Management.
Understanding of ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5M‑1994 or later.
One or more relevant Configuration Management certifications such as CMPIC or NDIA.
Solid knowledge and understanding of military, Department of Defense, and industry CMDM standards.
Compensation and Benefits In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas is $76,500 MIN – $141,500 MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; the final offer may vary based on experience and geographic location. Specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
