Role Overview The Manager of Competitive Intelligence & Strategic Analytics will be the architect of a new era of insights at ScottsMiracle‑Grove (SMG). This high‑visibility role is designed to evolve the competitive function from a reactive data utility into a strategic navigator. The incumbent will build a “single source of truth” for category data, identify “win‑now” market opportunities, and forecast the consumer landscape. Key Responsibilities Strategic Foresight & Executive Advisory: Transition the organization from high‑volume tactical reporting to a forward‑thinking strategic partner for the Leadership Team. Develop frameworks to monitor long‑term consumer/category shifts (e.g., ESG, urbanization) and competitor activity. Connect dots across disparate data sets to uncover “what’s next,” influencing the innovation pipeline and long‑term planning. Market Opportunity & Growth Analysis: Analyze segment and regional share shifts to identify immediate “win‑now” opportunities across brands and retailers. Model predictive financial impacts of market shifts and provide deep‑dive intelligence on competitor promotions, price point changes, and private‑label encroachment to protect SMG’s market leadership. Data Strategy & Digital Transformation: Architect the logic between third‑party data providers (e.g., Yipit, Nielsen/Circana) and internal environments such as Databricks. Lead the migration of ad‑hoc requests to automated, “executive‑ready” dashboards, establishing data governance standards to ensure accuracy and executive‑ready reporting. Required Technical Skills & Qualifications Data Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Snowflake, and Databricks to manage the strategic data foundation. CPG Analytics Mastery: Extensive experience with CPG syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI/Circana, NPD, Yipit, Numerator) and advanced Power Pivot/Excel modeling. Strategic Acumen: Proven ability to triangulate granular data into high‑stakes business recommendations. Retail Dynamics: Deep understanding of both traditional brick‑and‑mortar and e‑commerce shopping landscapes. Desired Attributes Intellectual Curiosity: Drive to uncover hidden market opportunities and future threats beyond hindsight. Operational Agility: Ability to maintain accuracy and speed while balancing long‑term strategic projects with critical tactical needs. Influential Communication: Exceptional skill in mapping complex data insights directly to brand strategy and executive decision‑making. Compensation & Benefits The starting budgeted pay range for this role is $111,500.00–$131,200.00 per year. The role is incentive‑eligible under the corporate bonus programs. For remote roles in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, NewYork, Oregon, or Washington, state‑required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary. Benefits include: Live Total Health program with options for medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees, domestic partners, and dependents. Wellness reimbursement program. 401(k) match up to 7.5% and 15% discount on company stock. Family benefits: Maven Family Planning and up to $30,000 to accommodate adoption, fertility, and surrogacy. Employee Resource Groups focusing on diversity, inclusion, family, education, and sustainability. Volunteerism and community service opportunities. EEO Statement Scotts is an EEO Employer, dedicated to a culturally diverse, drug‑free workplace. EEO/AA Employer/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity Notification to Agencies.
