Position Purpose The Counter Sales role is a key customer touchpoint, responsible for accurate order entry, smooth customer interactions, and maintaining inventory accuracy. The position requires strong multitasking skills, professionalism, honesty, and respect to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Key Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service by interacting with clients via phone, email, and in-person consultations with a courteous and professional demeanor. Accurately process and manage customer transactions at the sales counter using the company’s computer system to ensure efficient and precise order fulfillment. Deliver expert product recommendations and pricing information, tailoring solutions to meet customer needs and maximizing sales potential. Create detailed sales orders and quotes, utilizing customer measurements to estimate material needs and project costs with accuracy. Coordinate and schedule truck deliveries with precision, ensuring optimal logistics and customer satisfaction. Contribute to inventory management through cycle counts, order picking, staging, replenishment, and shipping/receiving activities. Collaborate with management and team members to communicate customer needs and special order material requests. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promoting operational efficiency and adherence to safety standards. Work collaboratively with warehouse and sales team members to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service. Maintain clear and effective communication with management and colleagues, executing duties with a focus on organizational goals and customer satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned. Travel Requirements Travel is not a requirement; all duties are performed on-site at the sales counter location. Physical Requirements Operates in both office and warehouse environments, requires extended standing and walking. Frequent use of hands for computer and order-processing tasks. Lifts up to 75 lbs., with regular lifting up to 50 lbs. Clear verbal communication and multitasking in a fast-moving setting. Minimum Qualifications Prior experience in a customer service or sales role preferred; experience managing customer relationships focused on satisfaction and loyalty. Proficiency in basic computer operations and internet navigation. Experience or familiarity with point-of-sale systems and order entry procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and courteously in person, over the phone, and via email. Effective problem-solving skills and resourcefulness in responding to customer inquiries and issues. Capability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 75 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. repetitively. Ability to work in varied conditions, including warehouses and outdoor environments. Honest, respectful, and courteous demeanor towards all customers and colleagues. Willingness and ability to work overtime during the peak season. Capability to pass a pre‑employment drug test. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. Previous experience with irrigation or landscaping products. Forklift operation experience; current forklift certification preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Demonstrated capability to drive sales outcomes and achieve personal and team goals through excellent customer service and product knowledge. Comprehensive understanding of landscaping materials, tools, and trends to provide informed recommendations. Familiarity with inventory processes, including cycle counts and stock replenishment, to optimize stock levels. Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree in business administration or a related field is considered advantageous. Certifications Forklift Operator Certification (preferred). CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred). Proactive identification and resolution of issues related to product availability, order discrepancies, and logistics. Positive engagement with team members through clear communication and mutual respect. Adaptability to changing job requirements and effective multitasking in a high‑paced environment. Salary and Benefits Base salary typically falls within $19.00 to $22.88 per hour. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime, performance-based bonuses, commissions, car allowance, travel reimbursement, and other non‑financial benefits.
