The Assistant General Manager supports the Dispensary Manager in overseeing daily dispensary operations; ensuring smooth workflow, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing opening and closing procedures, handling cash operations, and maintaining accurate sales and inventory records. The position tracks key performance metrics, maintains organized electronic filing systems, and assists with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. It requires staying current on state regulations and industry standards while upholding high levels of presentation, compliance, and customer experience. Additional duties include inventory control, supporting retail floor operations, and maintaining a clean, orderly dispensary environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities and flow of dispensary related matters, including, but not limited to, employee oversight and management, customer service interactions, maintain records for dispensary interactions, order supplies, and perform inventory reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all transactions; escalate issues to the General Manager and/or Director of Dispensaries as needed
  • Perform cash handling duties including but not limited to preparing cash deposits, tracking and reconciling registers, completing cash/transaction tracking records/logs, monitoring status of inhouse ATM's; understand, escalate, and communicate issues as they arise
  • Record all sales and inventory transactions in accordance with state and local laws and regulations
  • Track sales metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; attend manager meetings and communicate as needed directly with PAOFW leadership
  • Maintain the electronic filing system by scanning, uploading, and saving paperwork in the appropriate folders
  • Under direction from the General Manager, participate in the recruiting, training, development, and success of employees; resolve conflicts, manage attendance and performance; maintain a positive attitude while leading by example
  • Stay informed and knowledgeable about state and local laws, regulations, and industry news; this may be accomplished through continuing education, annual HIPAA Compliance training, etc.
  • Maintain established standards of presentation, customer experience, and compliance
  • Learn and participate in all operational aspects of employee management including writing schedules, managing time off and availability, approving and managing timecards
  • Support retail operations through the intake area and retail/dispensary floor as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of retail experience in a supervisory capacity
  • 1+ years of leadership experience, managing mid-sized teams
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated industry preferred.
Physical Requirements:

This is a physically demanding position working in a retail environment. The environment may frequently have the strong odor of cannabis, perfumes, and/or cleaning agents in the facility. This position requires candidates to be able to:

  • Sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time, including crouching and stooping
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and patients through talking and hearing
  • Use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Read and interpret small-sized text on product and patent labels accurately
  • Lift, hold, move, transport, or otherwise manipulate up to 20lbs on a regular basis
  • Assist in lifting, holding, moving, transporting or other manipulating up to 50lbs periodically
