The Area Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operational performance, leadership development, and guest experience across multiple restaurant locations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role supports General Managers in achieving business goals through coaching, auditing, and strategic guidance. The Area Supervisor plays a key role in driving operational excellence, team development, and brand standards while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Coaching & Development
- Lead by example in modeling accountability, professionalism, and brand values
- Provide hands-on coaching and leadership development to General Managers and department leaders
- Influence and guide teams, building trust and alignment across locations
- Identify high-potential talent and support succession planning and internal promotions
Operations Oversight
- Monitor and support performance metrics such as OSAT, OEPE, labor cost, food waste, etc.
- Respond to operational challenges with strategic decision-making and clear communication
- Visit stores regularly to observe and audit people and processes, provide feedback and follow-up to check for improvement
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct audits of food safety, inventory, scheduling, and customer service standards
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety standards
Communication & Issue Resolution
- Facilitate regular GM meetings to ensure alignment of goals, communicate upcoming changes and gather feedback on opportunities for improvement
- Communicate effectively with upper management and cascade to GM's
- Assist GM's in resolving conflict and operation issues promptly and professionally
Reporting & Analysis
- Review store specific KPI reports to spot trends and opportunities. Assist GM with strategic planning and execution for improvement.
Other
- Secondary point of contact during internal/external audits and vendor visits
- All other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
General
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Bilingual (Spanish) highly desirable
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
- College degree preferred, but not required
Training
- Fred 1-6, Crew Trainer Verification/Certification (if applicable)
- Food Safety, OTP1
- Foundations, Leadership Transitions Class, OTP2
- Department Modules, DLIM Class
- Campus Completion
- Leading Great Restaurants
- Hamburger University Graduation
Experience
- At least 3 years prior management experience; prior GM experience preferred
- At least 2 years' work experience in fast food, hospitality or retail environment
- Experience managing multiple locations and direct reports of all experience levels
- Ability to positively influence change
- Ability to coach and develop managers, supervisors or people leaders
- Ability to indirectly influence KPIs
Certifications
- ServSafe certification required to be obtained and active throughout tenure
- Confident leading a team and developing others
- Skilled at coaching, giving feedback, and driving accountability
- Able to delegate effectively and focus on big-picture goals
- Leads by example and builds trust
- Be a change management champion and help others adapt to fast-paced environment
- Clear communicator who acts with emotional intelligence
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively
- Effective in conflict resolution and having difficult conversations
- Organized, adaptable, and takes a strategic consultative approach
- Stays calm under pressure and acts with urgency when appropriate
- Strong understanding of food safety, labor laws, and compliance
- Experienced in managing KPIs like labor cost, food cost, and guest satisfaction
- Comfortable running reports and communicating findings to GM's and Director of Operations with continuous improvement in mind
- Familiar with McDonald's systems and applications
- Requires regular travel between locations
- Night, weekend and holiday availability required
- Flexibility to respond to urgent operational needs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Reports to the Director of Operations
- Direct reports include General Managers
- Competitive salary, pay for this position ranges from $55,000-70,000/year based on prior experience. Bi-weekly pay
