Job Description Job Description ** Position Summary** The Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading and continuously improving the facility's safety and training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, state and federal laws, and company policies. This role serves as the primary safety resource for the plant, helping foster a strong safety culture while reducing workplace risks and supporting employee well-being. ** Key Responsibilities** _ ** Safety Program Management**_
Lead and administer the facility's safety program and initiatives. Conduct safety, OSHA, and compliance training for employees. Coordinate and manage the plant Safety Committee. Perform routine facility safety audits and implement corrective actions. Maintain OSHA logs, records, and reporting requirements. Assist with the development and implementation of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). Promote compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
** Incident Prevention & Investigation**
Lead accident and injury investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions. Ensure all workplace incidents are reported, documented, and investigated properly. Conduct detailed root cause analyses and recommend preventive measures. Monitor safety trends and develop strategies to improve overall plant safety performance.
** Workers' Compensation & Risk Management**
Assist with the administration of workers' compensation claims. Support transitional return-to-work programs. Maintain inventory of safety equipment, PPE, and first aid supplies. Communicate safety performance and workers' compensation trends to plant leadership.
** Facility & Environmental Compliance**
Conduct daily safety walkthroughs to identify and correct unsafe conditions. Review construction and facility improvement projects for safety compliance. Monitor environmental programs and maintain compliance with permits and regulations. Stay current on federal, state, and local regulatory changes and implement necessary updates.
** Leadership & Training**
Train employees on safety procedures, policies, and best practices. Compile and communicate safety statistics and performance metrics. Participate in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Lead Safety Coordinator team meetings as needed. Mentor and support new Safety Coordinators. Assist with corporate-level safety projects impacting multiple facilities.
Qualifications ** Required**
Associate degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Technology, or a related field OR 5+ years of experience in a dedicated safety-related role. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and incident investigation practices. Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills. Strong organizational and leadership abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting systems.
** Preferred**
OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist) certification. ASP, GSP, or CSP certification. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or production environments. Experience conducting root cause analysis and advanced incident investigations.
** Physical Requirements**
Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. Visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, color distinction, and focus adjustment.
** Work Environment**
Combination of office, production floor, and outdoor work environments. Significant time spent in manufacturing and production areas. Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions while working in yard areas. Frequent interaction with plant personnel, supervisors, managers, and administrative staff.
** Travel**
Minimal travel required. Occasional travel to other company locations for training, benchmarking, or project support.
