Business Unit Manager

Fast-paced manufacturer is seeking a Business Unit Manager to join their team. The Business Unit Manager will report to the Plant Manager, have direct and indirect reports and will be responsible for the overall day-to-day performance of a designated production area. Daily responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing and coordinating all production, quality control, scheduling, material supply and cost of labor for a specific area of the plant
• Coaching, mentoring and developing direct and indirect reports
• Ensuring that product meets customer requirements for quality and delivery
• Achieving positive variances to budget for speed, yield, labor and expenses
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and financial performance of this area
• Strategizing continuous improvement and cost savings for the assigned area
• Monitoring and improving KPIs and metrics of the department
• Supporting capital investments and assisting with initial ROI activity
• Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

This position requires candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of the time. Candidates should have continuous improvement and scrap reduction skills, be energetic, able to take ownership of projects, have good work history and enjoy floor presence. Requirements for the Business Unit Manager:

• A Bachelors Degree is required; a technical degree is highly preferred
• At least 3-5 years of recent manufacturing operations management experience
• Strong CI experience with proven accomplishment of cost savings
• A strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience overseeing direct and indirect reports, ideally supervisors and engineers
• Experience overseeing production in at least a 24/5 manufacturing environment
• Microsoft Office

Skills that are preferred, BUT NOT required:

• Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies
• Automotive supplier experience
• P&L experience
• Experience overseeing production in 24/7 manufacturing environments
