Position Junior Network Security & Patching Specialist
Position Summary
Entry-to-mid level cybersecurity and network support role focused on patching, vulnerability remediation, and operational security
Works under the direct mentorship of the Lead Network Security Engineer
Primary focus on patch management, vulnerability reduction, and cybersecurity operations
Secondary exposure to networking, firewalls, and cloud environments
Developmental role designed to grow into a Network Security Engineer position
Contract to Hire 40 to 45 per hour.
Duration 6 months to 1 year
Patching & Vulnerability Management (Primary)
Execute the enterprise patch management program across servers, endpoints, and network devices
Deploy, validate, and troubleshoot OS, firmware, and application patches
Run vulnerability scans and assist with remediation tracking
Generate reports on patch compliance and risk exposure
Cybersecurity Operations Support
Monitor and investigate security alerts (EDR, IDS, etc.)
Escalate incidents following defined runbooks
Assist with firewall rule reviews and access control updates
Support endpoint protection and identity/VPN security
Network Operations Support
Monitor network health and availability
Assist with network troubleshooting and VPN/connectivity issues
Support Meraki, Cisco, and Fortinet environments under supervision
Infrastructure & Backup Support
Assist with backup verification and restore testing
Support basic server patching and infrastructure hygiene
Perform basic cloud (OCI/AWS) maintenance tasks
Documentation & Operations
Maintain asset inventory, patch records, and diagrams
Follow change control procedures and operational standards
Governance Requirement
All configuration changes and security‑impacting actions must be reviewed and approved by the Lead Network Security Engineer
Learning & Growth
Develop network security and infrastructure skills
Participate in training and security awareness initiatives
Work toward progression into a Network Security Engineer role
