About this Role: We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer; you will take ownership of key components of our software systems, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of our technology. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams, leveraging your technical expertise to deliver high‑quality, scalable software solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast‑paced startup environment and make a significant impact on the company’s success.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the scalable backend platform that supports our worldwide real‑time services
Ensure our platform is secure, reliable, and performant
Build our platform infrastructure and tooling
Rapidly prototype new project ideas for customers and internal stakeholders
Work with cross‑functional hardware and autonomy teams to solve challenges like streaming and displaying live drone data for non‑technical users in a variety of formats
Qualifications:
A Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in computer science or a related field and 1+ years of experience shipping high‑quality code and building robust infrastructure. Note – we are considering candidates for mid‑career, senior, and principal positions.
Experience building backend platforms, from the infrastructure up to the API layer (bonus if you’ve built real‑time data platforms, scalable microservice architectures, and dealt with security & encryption requirements)
Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) and are comfortable switching between software engineering and Cloud DevOps
Familiarity with serverless architecture, and understand the tradeoffs between performance and cost when running servers at scale
Excellent attention to detail, especially around scalability, performance, and security
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the drone or robotics industry.
Familiarity with machine learning, computer vision, or AI technologies.
Experience with real‑time systems or embedded software development.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.
Ability to work independently and in a small team, take initiative, and communicate effectively.
