Responsibilities Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, a Transporter provides escort and/or elevator (as applicable) services to patients and assists with direct patient care on nursing units. Assists patients in the inpatient nursing department in the rehabilitation process including:
Transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher, to appointments, procedures, therapy sessions, and group activities.
Assistance with daily living activities, such as toileting, showering, transporting, and answering call lights.
Assists with meal services on the nursing units as directed.
Distributes mail, flowers and packages to patients.
Transports specimens as needed.
Reports changes in patient condition to the appropriate clinician.
Performs other duties as requested.
Previous hospital experience preferred.
