Tasks Inside the Role
We are seeking a software architect and debugger to shape the future Driver Experience domain for Daimler Truck and its brands. You will lead the SW architecture development of one of our new Daimler Truck HMI ECUs (Instrument Cluster). In collaboration with our global development team, you will deliver forward‑thinking, robust, and maintainable solutions for all Daimler Truck brands. Your involvement will span all development phases, including ideation, architecture, prototyping, validation and release. The Driver Experience team focuses on digital on‑truck solutions and works hand in hand with design, engineering, and product strategy teams globally.
We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $117,000 – $150,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
Lead software architecture and feature development and implementation decisions
Define and govern a scalable SW architecture
Support with pre‑analysis of defects: identify root cause and possible fix
For critical defects: ensure quick turnaround by supporting debug data and directly implementing possible fixes in prototype builds
Collaborate with software defined vehicle project team to develop consistent and aligned concepts
Collaborate with a diverse team of designers, UI/UX experts, feature owners, project teams, and developers located in Germany, India, and United States
Coach and mentor team members and colleagues on all aspects of development – from methodologies to execution
Create documentation, reports, presentations
Knowledge You Should Bring
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience
3+ years of experience in automotive software development and architecture (instrument clusters, infotainment, or similar domains)
2+ years of experience with automotive development processes, agile methodologies, and tools
3+ years of experience in software development
Proficient with tools such as Vector suite, DiagnosticLink, Jira, Confluence, Doors, XDIS, and MATLAB
Proficient in version control systems (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
2+ years of experience in embedded software development and AUTOSAR architecture
3+ years of experience with CAN, LIN, Ethernet and other automotive communication protocols
Knowledge of graphics frameworks (e.g., Qt, OpenGL, or similar) for cluster UI rendering
Familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and Cybersecurity
Expertise in software architecture design patterns, UML modeling, and system decomposition
Excellent communication and team coordination skills across global teams (considering different cultural backgrounds), especially with teams in the US, Germany, and India
Strong analytical and logical thinking, with excellent problem‑solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented, reliable, proactive and self‑motivated
Ability to work effectively in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
Positive and collaborative attitude

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field with 7 years of relevant experience
Experience in software defined vehicle trends
Experience in service‐oriented architectures
Expertise in object oriented programming
Experience in Android development
Exposure to HMI design principles and UX considerations for instrument clusters
Experience building prototype systems
Knowledge and experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Where We Work This position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location(s): Portland, OR US. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Schedule Type:

Visa sponsorship will only be open to current Daimler Truck North America employees working under an existing U.S. Daimler Truck North America Visa
