Definition The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Web Content Specialist. Comprised of two colleges, West Valley College and Mission College, we are located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Our staff and faculty are among the most qualified in the state and our students appreciate our two colleges for our friendly staff and supportive atmosphere. Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Web Content Specialist is responsible to perform a variety of duties in the development and maintenance of the athletics website and social media pages; to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to oversee the accuracy and quality of the athletics website and social media pages; and to provide professional support for the District’s sports teams. The Web Content Specialist performs a variety of activities, requiring creativity, initiative and sound independent judgment, to publicize District athletic events and student-athletes, create digital animation for use on district scoreboards, and provide general communications and organizational support to the District’s athletic program. The position requires the ability to handle an irregular work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Assignment 100% of full time, 37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year, with anticipated start date of July 2026. Schedule may change to include some evening or weekend hours, as needed. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Classified Employees Association (WVMCEA), Office, Technical & Business Services Employee Unit.
Work Location: West Valley College, Saratoga, CA OR Mission College, Santa Clara, CA
Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range: $10,270.92 – $11,238.50 monthly (WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Range 74, Steps A-C). Benefits include:

Educational growth incentive program from $45 to $225 monthly.
$1000 longevity award annually after 10 years of service and $1,500 longevity award annually after 15 years of service.
CalPERS retirement.
Position is union affiliated.
Minimum Qualifications Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, marketing, business, or a related field
Experience: Two years of responsible professional website design/administrator experience
And
Understanding of, and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of
Principles and practices of web page and website construction and maintenance.
Industry standard web-based programming languages.
Features and capabilities of websites.
Principles of graphics presentation and design in a web-based environment.
Applicable federal, state, local and district laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Ability to
Design, develop, create and maintain websites and web-based applications.
On a continuous basis, know and understand all aspects of the job; intermittently analyze work papers, reports and special projects; identify and interpret technical and numerical information; observe and problem solve operational and technical policy and procedures.
On a continuous basis, sit at desk for long periods of time; intermittently twist to reach equipment surrounding desk; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; use telephone; write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; and lift or carry weight of 10 pounds or less.
Use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
