Bowdoin College is seeking a highly skilled individual with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is self-motivated, to join our diverse IT Enterprise Systems team. The role of an Applications Programmer II involves the installation, configuration, and maintenance of application solutions that seamlessly integrate with Bowdoin’s business applications. Key responsibilities include providing support for applications, focusing on tasks such as data transformation, application integration, and database programming. The position requires practical programming skills applied to integration, scripting, and automation rather than full-scale software engineering. Proficiency in relational databases, application stacks, web technologies, testing methodologies, production support, and the integration lifecycle is expected. Key Responsibilities
Maintain, configure, and support existing software solutions that the organization has adopted and implement/install new solutions. This includes integrating systems with other software on-premises or in the cloud. Act as a technical liaison with application vendors, troubleshoot issues, and implement integrations requiring an understanding of relational databases, application stacks, web services, and APIs. Build and maintain data integrations between campus systems using scripting, APIs, and database queries. Write and maintain scripts and programs to support application integrations, data transformations, and automation of routine processes. Develop and maintain technical documentation related to application configuration, integration, testing, and deployment. Ensure that software applications adhere to industry standards, security protocols, and best practices. Compensation
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $83,500–$90,500 Benefits and Perks

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field of study Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational database systems Competent working in both Windows and Linux operating systems Experience Requirements
Required
1–3+ years of experience working with relational database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, including writing and maintaining SQL queries 1–3+ years of experience writing scripts or programs in support of application integrations, data transformations, or process automation Demonstrated experience with the application integration lifecycle (configure, test, document, integrate, and support) Practical experience consuming and building integrations with APIs (REST, SOAP, and other formats) Preferred
1+ years of experience with cloud‑based application platforms such as AWS or Azure, and familiarity with deployment and CI/CD tools Experience with Windows Server and Linux operating systems Knowledge of IIS and Linux web hosting Familiarity with college administrative systems such as Admissions, Student Records, and Finance Knowledge of application analysis, system integration techniques, and data modeling tools Standard Work Days and Hours
Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, full‑time, year round (1.00 FTE) This is a two‑year appointment Occasional evenings and weekend hours as needed This is an exempt position requiring the time commitment necessary to successfully complete job requirements EEO Information
