Company: The Boeing Company Location: Huntsville, Alabama The Software Engineering Manager will oversee the software integration, verification, and requirement teams for the Space Launch System (SLS) Ground Systems and Integration (GS&I) team. The role supports the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization, bridging development and deployment across locations such as Michoud Assembly Facility, Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, and Stennis Space Center. Position Responsibilities
Support, lead, and delegate team responsibilities through all project lifecycle stages. Establish common design practices, workflows for code‑generation, validation, and incorporation into testing assets. Partner with system design, engineering, and testing/verification teams for full product lifecycle integration. Gather and interpret technical information to guide development. Develop plans, budgets, estimate timelines and resources. Manage risks, issues & opportunities. Identify goals and metrics for product success and drive implementation across teams. Improve product quality and developer performance by simplifying complex processes and growing automation in builds, deployment, and testing. Collaborate with leadership on strategy to leverage engineering for long‑term transitions with SLS business strategy. Provide clear written and spoken communication to a variety of audiences. Foster a culture that supports diversity and inclusion. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. At least one year of leadership experience or completion of the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.” 8+ years of experience with development, test, or verification of complex software systems. 5+ years of experience with modern software test and verification methodologies. 2+ years of experience leading any phase of the software lifecycle (Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test). Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading, managing, and growing software teams. Experience developing project execution plans, schedules and budgets. Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM). Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. Travel
