Overview The Ball State University Digital Corps is a student‑powered creative agency seeking a Digital Content Strategist who serves as a writer, mentor, and strategist. In this role, you will bridge the Division of Information Technology with the campus community, translating complex tech initiatives into clear, engaging stories and helpful guides. You will lead a team of undergraduate students, coaching them on real‑world projects and fostering their creative careers. The position requires an on‑campus presence and does not allow remote work. Position Function The Digital Content Strategist supports the messaging and technical documentation needs of the Division of Information Technology while guiding the Digital Corps student team. Leveraging a wide array of delivery tools, you will create clear, concise, and meaningful content strategies on behalf of IT and its clients. Duties & Responsibilities Lead the strategic vision for and implement the Division of Information Technology’s comprehensive outreach strategy, overseeing creation, deployment, and management of messaging across campus‑wide platforms. Serve as the institutional lead for content integrity and governance concerning campus‑wide AI tools and platforms, curating and validating source materials from campus collaborators to ensure accuracy and consistency in all AI‑generated content. Lead a team of undergraduate content creation students: hire, onboard, assign, review work, evaluate students for promotion, and perform day‑to‑day management tasks. Collaborate with Digital Corps students to support client‑focused communication projects undertaken by the Corps. Work with Unified Technology Support to create and maintain campus‑wide support documents (Knowledge Base) for key IT initiatives. Lead collaborative efforts within the Division of Information Technology to research and apply forward‑thinking outreach trends and strategies, sharing these insights with IT and the Digital Corps. Provide strategic direction for the launch of new IT systems, collaborating to develop all initial training content and essential documentation to ensure clear and effective information is available to users immediately upon deployment. Foster and promote a culture of content excellence and customer‑centric knowledge sharing across the Division of Information Technology, establishing standard processes and providing regular consultation and training to support content creation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in English, creative writing, technical writing, communication, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • At least two years of communications experience. • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to train and coach undergraduate students in communication strategy. • Strong soft skills including time management, collaboration, and creativity. • Proficiency with a word‑processing program. Preferred Qualifications Experience in communication and presentation skills; ability to quickly adapt, become familiar with university processes, and establish rapport across multiple university units.
