Core Switching Group (CSG) Software Field Applications Engineer (FAE)
This role supports Broadcom's XGS‑Tomahawk series of products in AI clusters for scale‑up, scale‑out, and scale‑across applications. The engineer will work with the top five cloud customers who are leaders in the compute and AI/ML space, helping them run the switch development kit within their OS/platform environment and providing technical leadership throughout the sales cycle. Key Responsibilities
Assist customers with deploying the switch development kit in their OS/platform environment. Be familiar with embedded operating systems such as Linux. Identify software bugs, develop and suggest fixes, and recommend appropriate API usage for features such as traffic management, congestion control, and scheduling. Deliver SDK overview presentations to customers. Maintain deep understanding of Ethernet protocols, switching, and packet‑processing architecture, answering customer questions with timely, accurate information. Collaborate with Field Sales Engineers to increase demand for Broadcom Wired Segment products. Analyze customer applications to identify key technology and product features for next‑generation solutions. Act as a technical liaison between the Core Switching Group Software Development Team, Factory Application Teams, and the customer. Job Requirements
Understand millions of lines of code and write patches. Expertise in Ethernet L2/L3 switching protocols. Two years of experience as a field applications engineer is highly desired, but not required. BSEE/BSCS required. Master’s degree with six or more years of experience in embedded networking software design and development is also acceptable. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Team player, independent, self‑starter with a \"can‑do\" attitude, adaptable to rapidly changing market requirements, and able to prioritize and multitask. Able to handle intense pressure and execute effectively. Ability to build strong relationships with customers. Past record of success. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Onsite position in Broadcom San Jose office; relocation not available. Compensation & Benefits
The On‑Target Earnings (OTE) range for this position is $140,600–$225,000. OTE includes sales incentive commission in accordance with relevant plan documents and salary.
