General Description The Ticket Sales Associate – Student Position is a part-time role that focuses on conducting ticket sales transactions over the phone and in person. It requires providing customer service, answering event-related inquiries, and ensuring a smooth ticket purchasing process. Ideal for students with strong communication skills who wish to support event operations.
Responsibilities
Staff the Box Office desk during designated work hours.
Process ticket sales and answer Box Office phone calls.
Sell tickets before performances start, answer patron questions, and hand out tickets at the performance.
Interact with faculty, staff, students, and the public to provide information about Cultural Programs programs, services, and operations.
Perform other duties assigned by the Box Office and Marketing team.
Qualifications
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Proficient listening skills and ability to follow instructions.
Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Professional attire when working in the office.
Professional attitude and demeanor.
Proficient communication skills, both written and oral.
Excellent customer service skills.
Typing, filing, and bookkeeping ability.
Attention to detail.
Self‑motivated.
Ability to learn new computer programs quickly, including ticketing software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Valid driver’s license.
Experience in customer service or retail.
Job Training & Work Hours Work hours are arranged around the student’s class schedule, Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, not to exceed 25 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
General physical requirements: Light work; may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.
Physical activities: Frequently move around the Cultural Programs office, OCCC theaters, art gallery, and campus; communicate with customers, vendors, students, staff, and faculty; operate computer, office equipment, and mobile devices; perform repetitive motions of hands and wrists; position self to access equipment or supplies that may be above head or ground level.
Visual acuity: Ability to judge, observe, and assess accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
Working conditions: Indoor office setting.
Safety / Policy & Procedures
Abide by policies and procedures of the Board of Regents and college policies.
Contribute to a safe educational and working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures for injury and illness prevention.
Complete quarterly health and safety training as required by OCCC.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, and shelter‑in‑place drills, and be ready to take action and help others during a health or safety emergency.
