Position Overview The Sales Manager is responsible for generating group and event revenue for NOPSI Hotel New Orleans through proactive business development, strategic account management, and strong client relationship building. This role drives group room nights, banquet revenue, and overall hotel profitability through aggressive prospecting, client engagement, and consistent follow‑up.
The Sales Manager is expected to operate as a business generator, actively pursuing new opportunities, maintaining a strong sales pipeline, and representing the hotel in the local and national marketplace.
This position is classified as an Overtime Eligible Manager (OEM) role.
Essential Functions
Proactively solicit new group, meeting, and event business through prospecting, networking, referrals, and strategic outreach.
Develop and maintain targeted account lists and action plans to penetrate key market segments and drive incremental revenue.
Achieve or exceed established revenue goals for group room nights, banquet revenue, and total group contribution.
Conduct outside sales calls locally and regionally to generate new business opportunities and strengthen client relationships.
Represent the hotel at tradeshows, industry events, networking functions, and client events to increase brand visibility and secure new business.
Respond to all sales inquiries within four hours whenever possible.
Prepare customized proposals, contracts, and presentations that effectively communicate the value and experience of the hotel.
Conduct professional and engaging hotel site tours that showcase the property's guestrooms, meeting space, and dining outlets.
Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the sales cycle to ensure a seamless transition from contract to event execution.
Collaborate closely with the Events, Banquets, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to ensure successful execution of contracted programs.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, opportunities, and activity tracking within the hotel's CRM and sales systems.
Monitor the competitive landscape and adjust sales strategies to maximize market share and profitability.
Attend client meetings, networking functions, and hotel‑hosted events, including evenings and weekends when required to support business development.
Participate in weekly sales meetings, revenue strategy discussions, and pipeline reviews.
Travel to off‑site client meetings, tradeshows, and training programs as scheduled.
Sales Activity Expectations To ensure a proactive and results‑driven sales culture, the Sales Manager is expected to maintain strong activity levels including:
Consistent proactive prospecting and outreach to new and existing accounts
Regular outside sales calls in the local and regional market
Hosting and conducting property site tours for prospective clients
Participation in industry networking events and sales missions
Maintaining an active and qualified sales pipeline
Performance will be measured by revenue production, client engagement, and overall contribution to hotel sales objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of hotel sales experience or related hospitality sales experience.
Demonstrated ability to generate new business and maintain strong client relationships.
Working knowledge of hotel group sales, meetings, and events.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within a luxury, lifestyle, or independent hotel environment.
Familiarity with hotel sales and operations systems such as Delphi, Opera, Sertifi, or similar platforms.
Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk during site tours, client meetings, and hotel events.
Ability to travel locally for outside sales calls and industry events.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support client functions and networking opportunities.
