Job Description JOB SUMMARY
The Network Administrator will lead the analyzation, monitoring, and support of agency-wide data networks and software systems. Coordinates projects for network infrastructure, sub-netting, VLANs, (IP) telephony, and IT aspects of network security. Coordinates projects with IT team to ensure high availability and performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Analyzes and administers the technical architecture of Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks.
Researches, runs tests, evaluates, and recommends telecommunications and data network systems.
Analyzes workload, including traffic and utilization trends.
Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams, and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate type of hardware installation.
Supports complex PCs and LAN/WAN networks throughout the organization.
Installs and maintains network components to include server hardware and software, routers, switches, Radio Frequency components, and all other communication equipment and cabling.
Monitors network performance including wireless, Metro Ethernet, MPLS, ASE, AVPN, and fiber/copper wired connections. Takes steps to optimize network bandwidth and performance.
Acts as project lead on major projects involving network upgrades, and IP Telephony.
Configures and maintains IP telephony equipment including call manager servers, and Cisco switches/routers. Monitors and strives to optimize overall performance of VOIP network.
Responsible for Firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Ruckus wireless network, and wireless security administration including upgrades, maintenance, and support.
Maintains current documentation and network infrastructure maps. Works with Engineering to ensure all terminal maps are updated in a timely fashion.
Administers TCP/IP configurations including Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and minimum five years working knowledge in the field of Information Technology or additional 3-5 years of experience or 7 to 10 years of experience in the field of Information Technology as a Network Administrator or similar duties.
A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required to operate a Town owned licensed motor vehicle.
CISSP, CCIE, Security + or CWNP certifications are preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have sound working knowledge of Cisco routers, Cisco ASA, Juniper switches, VMWare, Windows Server, Linux, Radio Frequency components, and communications equipment.
Must be a good team player, and possess the ability to prioritize workload and juggle multiple tasks.
Must be familiar with CJIS compliance and be eligible to be CJIS certified
Must perform well under pressure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically able to operate different types of equipment and machinery including office equipment, communications equipment, etc. Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting much of the time, with extended periods at a keyboard. Must be able to lift or carry up to twenty pounds.
