GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESThis position is responsible for evaluating, advising, and treating athletes to assist in recovery from injury, avoid injury, or maintain peak fitness. JOB DESCRIPTION HealthForce of Virginia is a medical staffing agency that focuses on placing healthcare workers in various assignments across the state. We are currently recruiting an Athletic Trainer to work part-time with a school in Franklin City. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 3:15 pm-6:00 pm. On game days, the schedule will be 3:15 pm until the completion of games. There will also be a schedule provided with the dates of all mandatory sports events and games (both home and away games) so that traveling can be arranged accordingly. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Job Functions: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Conducts initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care, and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for treatment. Provides care for athletic injuries. Evaluate athletes' readiness to play and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted. Applies protective or injury-preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces. Assesses and reports the progress of recovering athletes to coaches and physicians. Advises athletes on the proper use of equipment. Plans and implements comprehensive athletic injury prevention programs. Develops training programs and routines designed to improve athletic performance. Attends all home games and any other games designated by the Athletic Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a certified athletic trainer through the BOC, and be certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the VHSL regulations and other regulations governing high school athletic programs. Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare related reports. Must possess excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff members, and the public. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from school. The noise level in the work environment is usually. moderate.
