Position Summary Vicus Capital is seeking a proactive, customer-focused Systems Administrator to support and evolve the firms technology environment across corporate operations, financial advisors, and business users. The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and securing Microsoft 365, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, networking, and endpoint management. This role combines hands-on infrastructure administration, cybersecurity operations, and advanced end-user support in a highly collaborative environment. The Systems Administrator will help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the organizations technology platforms while contributing to infrastructure modernization and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and enjoys working directly with employees, advisors, and clients to deliver exceptional technology solutions. This is a full-time onsite position based in State College, Pennsylvania, supporting Vicus Capitals corporate staff and financial advisors. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Systems Administration Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, and Defender. Support Windows Server, Active Directory, and hybrid cloud infrastructure. Manage network infrastructure, including Fortinet firewalls, Cisco switches, wireless networks, VPN connectivity, and security controls. Maintain endpoint management, patching, and monitoring solutions to ensure system security, reliability, and compliance. Support virtualization and cloud environments, including backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions. Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
Security & Compliance Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, policies, and best practices. Assist with vulnerability management, incident response, security awareness initiatives, and compliance requirements. Participate in periodic audits, risk assessments, and disaster recovery testing. Help ensure compliance with financial services regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
IT Operations & End User Support Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for employees, advisors, and clients. Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and cloud-based issues. Manage the lifecycle of IT assets, including deployment, maintenance, and retirement. Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles. Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance activities and occasional support escalations as needed.
Projects & Continuous Improvement Participate in technology projects involving infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, cybersecurity improvements, and operational efficiency. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with business goals. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to deliver successful technology initiatives. Identify opportunities to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational effectiveness.
Success in This Role Build trusted relationships with employees, advisors, and business stakeholders through responsive and professional support. Maintain a secure, reliable, and well-documented technology environment. Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and cybersecurity posture. Contribute to infrastructure modernization and cloud adoption initiatives.
Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or IT operations. Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID. Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and endpoint management. Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, identity management, and data protection concepts. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience in a financial services, MSP, consulting, or highly regulated environment. Experience with PowerShell scripting. Experience with Azure, Intune, Defender, Sentinel, or other Microsoft cloud technologies. Experience with virtualization platforms and backup/disaster recovery solutions. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, or cybersecurity certifications.
