Overview
The Hudson Valley Farm Hub (HVFH) is a non-profit agricultural center dedicated to resiliency in the regional food system. Since the Farm Hub’s founding in 2013, we have converted the approximately 1600-acre farm operation to a multi-year rotation of organically grown grains, cover crops and vegetables with an intensive focus on soil health. We steer our efforts towards the greater community of regional farmers, Hudson Valley neighbors, and the natural environment as we advance field research and innovation, provide training and informational gatherings for growers and community members, and support community resiliency. We are seeking a service-oriented IT professional who enjoys helping others solve technical problems and keeping technology systems organized and running smoothly. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in help desk support and will be comfortable troubleshooting common hardware, software, and access issues across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices. We are looking for someone who can communicate clearly with staff at all levels, demonstrate professionalism and discretion, and who is eager to learn and grow within the IT function. Position Summary
The Information Technology Assistant (IT Assistant) provides frontline technical support and administrative assistance to the Technology department. This role focuses on help desk support, device provisioning, purchasing, and inventory coordination, ensuring day-to-day technology needs are addressed efficiently while escalating complex issues appropriately. The role reports to the Manager of Information Technology and supports staff across all departments by resolving common technical issues, coordinating procurement, and maintaining accurate technology records including expense reports and enterprise resource planning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests, troubleshooting common hardware, software, and access issues Provide day-to-day support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals Assist users with account access, password resets, MFA enrollment, and basic application support Document support requests, resolutions, and escalations using the organization’s ticketing system Escalate advanced technical issues to the Manager of Information Technology or external vendors as appropriate Device Provisioning & Lifecycle Support
Prepare, deploy, and recover user devices according to organizational standards Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including device setup, account provisioning, and access removal Coordinate routine updates, patches, and basic endpoint maintenance under established procedures Maintain device readiness and ensure timely replacement of aging and depreciated equipment Purchasing, Inventory & Administrative Support
Create and track purchase orders for IT equipment, software, and services through Sage Intaact Coordinate with vendors to obtain quotes, place orders, and track software renewals Maintain accurate IT asset and inventory records, including device assignments and lifecycle status Assist with warranty tracking, returns, and equipment replacements Support budget tracking by documenting purchases and assisting with reconciliation Coordination & Communication
Communicate clearly with staff regarding support timelines, equipment availability, and issue resolution Assist in scheduling maintenance, installations, and vendor visits Support documentation of procedures, onboarding guides, and user-facing IT resources Policy & Security Support
Follow established IT policies, security standards, and access control procedures Assist with IT training and enforcing acceptable use, device handling, and security practices Report security concerns, incidents, or policy violations to the Manager of IT or the senior leadership team Required Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related business field 1–3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or technical administration Excellent customer service and communication skills Familiarity with Windows, macOS and iOS environments Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 applications Experience with account delegations through Okta or other idP Experience with ticketing systems, inventory tracking, or purchasing processes preferred Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple requests simultaneously Willingness to learn and grow within the IT function Demonstrated ability to participate in and foster a work environment of mutual respect, team building, and collaboration; committed to a culture of continuous learning Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and discretion Demonstrated reliability, trustworthiness, and a high degree of professional judgement Fluency in English (written and verbal); excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Valid drivers’ license and clean driving record, if driving Farm Hub vehicles Verbal proficiency in Spanish. The IT Assistant is a full-time, (non-exempt) hourly position eligible for benefits. Compensation for this position is $27.00 – $32.00 per hour and receives overtime for all hours worked over 40 in the workweek. The typical schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm. There may be some periodic evening or weekend work required. How to Apply
